Lagos State Basketball Association, LSBBA, in conjunction with the American Embassy have concluded plans to organise the 3rd Lagos State Basketball Coaching Clinic.
The two day-coaching clinic will hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria from Thursday to Friday this week between 9am and 5pm with two sessions each day.
According to the Secretary of the association, Uthman Ola Okunnu, over 50 coaches are expected to participate in the clinic that will see Nigerian Canada-based basketball coach, Patrick Omo-Osagie, as the facilitator.
Apart from the certificates that will be issued to the participants at the end of the clinic, Omo-Osagie disclosed that they will also get coaching materials donated by the American Embassy.
“All is set for this year’s clinic,†he said. “We have put in place every logistic for the successful organisation of the clinic, which is one of the association’s grassroots development tools. If the coaches are not well trained, their products may not be good enough, and this will surely affect the whole system. This is why we collaborated with the American Embassy to organise this clinic,†Okunnu said.
The former secretary of Lagos State Football Association therefore thanked the American Embassy for supporting the association, while calling on the grassroots coaches to take advantage of every opportunity presented to them at the clinic.
