The management, coaches and players of Nigeria Premier League, NPL Club, Sunshine Stars of Akure last Sunday attended a thanksgiving service at the Revival City Church, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria to show appreciation to God for their achievement last season.
The thanksgiving, which was at the instance of the Executive Director of OSFA, Mike Idoko, saw the pastor, Chris Akano, urging the players to rededicate themselves to God if they want to win the Premier League this season.
“Any of you who still believe in fetishism should better desist from it now before the arrow of God descend on you.
“We are here to put Sunshine Stars to the throne of God. So, you cannot serve God with mammon,†he warned.
Idoko disclosed that the team went to the same church to seek God’s favour last season and that He rewarded them with a continental ticket at the end of their campaign in the Premier League.
The Sunshine Stars players and their officials however expressed thanks to God, praying for a better season.
