Attention will be drawn to Anthony Village Sports Centre on Saturday when New Generation Football Academy begin their campaign against Fed United in the opening match of  Community Cup.
The opening match is expected to be explosive as New Generation will bank on home support to clinch the three points at stake. But football pundits believe that the match will be tough for both sides.
Speaking ahead of the opening match, the coach of New Generation, Abiodun Ademuyiwa, boasted that his team cannot afford to play a draw, let alone lose the match.
“My players are injury-free and ready to clinch the three points at stake. I am not thinking of a draw against our opponents because we are going to play before our fans. Anything short of victory will be a disappointment to our fans,†he said.
Fed United player, Sulaimon Abdullahi, warned their opponents to prepare for a tough match, saying that his team are not ready to lose the three points.
“We plan to come out with better result. We cannot afford to lose our opening match because it will kill our morale in the next game,†he said.
Twenty teams are expected to take part in the championship.
In the fixtures made available to GSG, group A comprises New Generation, Fed United, Kosofe LG I, Cruzeiro FC and Dynamic FC, while Group B consists of Invisible FC, Junior Strikers, Melindion FC, Kosofe LG II and Junior United.
In Group C are Foursquare FC, Tosban FC, Potters FC, Olayinka FC and Glory FC, while group D are made up of Word Stars, Trainozinni FC, Roman FC, Akisilveros FC and Lapero FC.
