Eminent traditional rulers, political juggernauts, business tycoons, members of Lagos State House of Assembly and socialites in Oshodi, Isolo and Ejigbo are expected to add glamour to the first Oshodi/Isolo Traditional Games, which will take place at Owoseni Primary School, Oshodi, on Monday, 27 December, 2010.
The Oshodi/Isolo sports fiesta, which will be organised by Heritage Sports Association under Comrade Charles Sunday Omotoye, will ignite the passion of the residents during the Xmas period.
According to Comrade Omotoye, who is the Chairman, Organising Committee of the games, dignitaries expected at the event include His Royal Highness Oba Kabiru Adelaja Agbabiaka; the Ilufemiloye I, Osolo of Isolo; His Royal Highness, Oba Shakirudeen Adesina Kuti, Eruifa I; the Elewu of Ewutuntun Kingdom, High Chief Sekoni Elemo; Baale of Ajao Estate and Mafoluku and Chief Babalola (Giri Elogbojo), Baale of Sogunle.
Others are Hon. Joseph Jaiyeola Ajatta, two-time House of Representatives member, Hon. Maruf Akinderu-Fatai, Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni and Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet, both of Lagos State House of Assembly.
“It is going to be an assemblage of eminent personalities, as we have invited the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barrister Opeyemi Bamidele; Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon; Chairman, Oshodi Local Government, Mr.Afeez Ipesa-Balogun; Chairman Isolo Local Council Development Area, Chief (Mrs.) Modupe Fafowora- Oseghale; Chairman Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Mr.Kehinde Bamigbetan, Hon. Olalekan Alausa Adekoye; Dr. Olurotimi Olulana and Deacon Dada Aigbe.
Others are Managing Director, HYPE Energy Drink, Alhaji Ibrahim Soliu, alias Too Much Money of BRASOL Hotel, Oshodi; Alhaji Bichi of Fedex Red Star Courier Service; Alhaji Bashiru Morakinyo; Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, “M.C Oluomo of Oshodi†and Chief Eze Felix, N. Enwere, the Eze Ndigbo, Oshodi,” Comrade Omotoye said.
The traditional sports, which had been in coma for a long period, came back to life through Governor Raji Fashola’s initiative. It received a tremendous boost as virtually all the Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in the state are now jostling for opportunity to partake in the programme.
The programme is run in conjunction with the Basir Agusto-led Lagos State.
