A stalwart of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ojo Local Government, Prince Yaqub Olatubosun, has debunked allegations that the party imposed certain candidates on the people of Ojo Constituency 02.
He said that the party conducted a free and transparent primaries devoid of any rancour or acrimony. The results, he stressed, were accepted and ratified by the party and there is no controversy.
Olatubosun, a grassroots politician, who also contested for the State House of Assembly for Constituency 01told newsmen at a joint emergency meeting of tradesmen and artisans in Lagos recently that the attitude of some politicians in Nigeria calls for concern.
He said everybody must ensure that they are represented at various levels by responsible, reliable and tested candidates who could respond positively to their yearnings.
“A situation where some people would lose an election only to start bringing up frivolous, tribal and sentimental issues is childish and alien to participatory politics,†he stated, adding that the rumour that some people who lost the recent primaries have claimed to be Labour Party members and are working hard to confuse a Prince in Oto Awori to contest against ACN candidate is nothing but a calculated attempt to ridicule the entire constituency.
Such move, he further said, “could portray us as a people that have no principle, fear of God and focus.â€
Narrating how Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi had been championing the crusade and struggle to make the entire Ojo land a developed, peaceful and economically viable one in the state, Olatubosun said that it is strange that somebody who had worked tirelessly and used his position and resources in the party to ensure that the area is adequately taken care of by the leadership of the party in the state could be treated in a way that makes all to wonder whether those behind the campaign of calumny are aware of what Ogunyemi has been doing in the area for long.
Ogunyemi, he said, “is not selfish, not self centered, not tribalistic and above all he is an embodiment of ideas and creative thinking that can fasttrack development in the area when he gets to office and when supported.
“Also, all the traditional rulers in the area support good governance which the present governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola represents in Nigeria and mostly in Lagos.â€
Stating that ACN is strong, very popular and remains the party to beat in Ojo, Olatubosun, a graduate of Business Administration, challenged all those who want good things for Ojo area to get closer to Ogunyemi and verify by themselves who exactly he is. He therefore appealed to all those who felt aggrieved to bury the hatchet and rally round ACN to achieve a resounding victory during the April polls.
