Scrabble World Cup: Nigeria Set For World Tourney
Nigeria Scrabble Federation, NSF, has started preparation for Scrabble Youth World Cup billed to hold inside the Zon Regency Hotel, Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 6 December – 8Â December, this year.
Speaking with P.M Sports yesterday in his office, Secretary General of the federation, Mr James Eakyns, disclosed that the Malaysian tourney is specifically for 18 year- old players that would replaced old and experienced players in the future.
” We are using the Malaysian Youth Championship to launch our young but talented players into stardorm. It will be an opportunity for the players to compete with their international players and to understand what it takes to play on a foreign land,†he said.
Eakyns saidthe federation has registered seven players which include Akinlosotu Oluwafemi, Adegbite Oluwarinumi, Adegbite Oluwatobiloba, Adeseye Adefemi, Akindeko Victor, Akindana Abidemi and Adalumo Ololade.
He said the organisers of the championship have already informed them that the WESPA version 2 rules and the Collins Scrabble Words 2007 (CSW) will be used during the tourney.
Eakyns added that the Nigerian players have started practising in that regards.
Scrabble players from Nigeria, South Africa, United Kingdom, USA and other countries of the world are expected at the championship.
