Chairman, Ikeja Divisional League, Dele Gbajumo, has given the reason Ikeja League was put on hold.
Gbajumo said the body suspended the league because other divisional football associations are yet to start their respective leagues.
He said there is no way they can continue the league when other divisional football associations have not started theirs.
“We just want to urge the participating teams to exercise patience with us because we were instructed by the Lagos FA to stop the league for now, to allow other divisional football associations to be on the same level with us,” he said.
Gbajumo revealed that he is making frantic efforts to get sponsors for the league and promised a more organised league next season.
“We are working towards organising a better league next season than the previous ones. We had a talk with some corporate bodies and sports philanthropists and they have assured us of their total support next season,” he said.
