Olufemi Adeyemi of Pioneer Boxing Club and Francis Olufemi of Kamlat Boxing Club were screened out during last weekend’s 30th Saturday Monthly Boxing Show held at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Lagos, because they failed to meet up with pre-fight requirements, organizers of the event have disclosed.

In a chat with P.M.Sports, Chairman of the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, LBHF, Wale Edun said the body and its partner, the Lagos Amateur Boxing Association, LABA disqualified the boxers on the ground that they failed to turn up for the weigh-in and medical before the bouts.

“People will notice that there were walkovers in this edition because two boxers were disqualified from participating. The boxers were disqualified because they came late for the weigh-in and medical check up,” said Edun.

He added: “This is a message to other boxers from the LBHF and LABA that their health is paramount to us. That’s why we always ensure that all boxers are certified fit by our medical personnel before they are allowed to feature at the tourney.”
