Fashola Cup: 16 Clubs Battle For Trophy

16 Clubs from Ikorodu have confirmed their readiness to take part in the second edition of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola Soccer championship.

The competition, which will last for two months will kick-off this Saturday at the Ibeshe Football Pitch in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Cup donor, Kaoli Olusanya will be among the Special Guests of honour that will watch the opening match between the Blessing Estate FC and Alogba Estate FC.

Chairman, Organising Committee, Godday Ezezobor toldP.M.Sports that all the participating teams are ready for the championship.

He said this year’s edition will be glamorous and colourful, revealing that the cup donor will use the competition to mark his 60th birthday.

He further disclosed that the cup donor has promised to increase the prize money for the winners and ensure that the participants will be given consolatory prizes and certificates of participation.

“It is going to be a memorable event because the cup donor is happy that he will clock 60 this year,” he said.

Ezezobor, popuparly known as coach Dada, urged the teams not to see the competition as a do-or-die affair. He said the organisers will not condone any act of indiscipline during or after the tourney, adding that any team that violate the law will be punished accordingly.

He also advised football fans to comport themselves during the tournament, saying that the organisers will deal with any of the fans planning to cause trouble during the tourney.
