Except you are an ardent boxing follower, you may not know the name Nigerian born Germany based professional boxer, Jessica Balogun (22-2, 10 KOs) but she is currently making headlines in the female boxing world.

Even with her strength in the boxing rings, there are indications that if Nigeria does not quickly approach, she may be forced to dump Nigeria as some of her compatriots have done.

From the likes of Francis Obikwelu, who dumped Nigeria for Portugal, to Gloria Alozie, who pitch her tent with Spain and even the current Technical Director of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, NWF, Daniel Igali the list is endless but there are fears that she may be forced to dump Nigeria.

If she feels there is nothing to lose if she follows the footsteps of her predecessors, then Nigeria would be losing another boxing prospect, in Balogun.

Her boxing abilities know no bound and she has been tipped to go places provided she has the backing of her country of birth, Nigeria.

Cecilia Braekhus (20-0, 5 KOs) who defeated Balogun to defend her WBA/WBC/WBO Female Welterweight Titles at the Nordic Fight Night in Herning, Denmark recently described her opponents as a tough boxer saying “Jessica was a tough opponent, we knew each other very well, but I did what we had trained for and I am happy about the win,” “This was a good victory for me.”

A boxing fan, Gbenga Morakinyo who is based in Germany informed P.M.Sports that after seeing Balogun train in Germany, he decided that he was going to cheer his compatriot during the fight but admitted that it was said seeing the Nigerian lady fall to a defeat.
