Koilo Street of Lagos Island yesterday they emerged winner of the Season Five of the MTN Lagos Street Soccer.
From 2010, Koilo has been playing in the final and they narrowly lost out in 2011 to Lawal Akapo but at the Campos Mini Stadium yesterday, they were rewarded when they beat Ajao Jimoh Street of Igando LCDA 1-0 to claim the star prize of N5million.
Aside the cash reward, Koilo will also embark on a foreign trip to Spain, while Ajao Jimoh won N3million plus a trip to South Africa.
The third and fourth placed teams won N2million and N1million respectively while the third placed team will also travel to Ghana. Hassan Dimeji of Koilo was adjudged the most valuable player of the championship.
In the female team, Go4goals Queens team beat Gaskiya Road 2-1 on penalty after playing goalless at full time.
In the corporate category, MTN FC defeated All Stars team made up of former Super Eagles stars – Friday Ekpo, Mike Oyemachara, Friday Elahor among others.
Over 854 male teams took part in this year’s championship while 64 female and 12 corporate teams participated in the competition.
