Secretary General of the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation, NAFF, Victor Anusa, has revealed that Nigeria may not compete at the coming World Amputee Football Cup in Russia if the World Amputee Football Federation, WAFF, does not respond on time to the country’s application.

Anusa lamented that the world body has not extended an invitation to Nigeria though NAFF has completed its registration process.

He said: “We can only compete at the championship if only WAFF accepts our application and asks us to come to Russia. But it is unfortunate that our team’s participation at the event is under probability since WAFF is yet to contact us.”

The NAFF scribe revealed further that the team are in high spirits though their hope of featuring at the tourney may be dashed if the world body does not reply on time.

“Both the players and the coaching crew are all preparing for the championship and the camp is bubbling with life. It is now left for WAFF to act on time so that the people in camp will not be discouraged,” Anusa said.

The Russian City of Kaliningrad was given the hosting right after it was retrieved from Iran as the Persian state failed to meet hosting standard.
