CCC League: How Lagos Asian Team Lost To Ibeju Lekki —Captain

Captain of Lagos Asian Cricket Team, Mathias Devadayah, has attributed their loss to Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club of Lagos in the ongoing Club Cricket Committee, CCC League to poor batting by their batmen.

Ibeju Lekki defeated Lagos Asian team by 5 wickets in a league game played at the TBS Cricket oval, Onikan, Lagos last weekend. Lagos Asian won the toss in the match and were elected to bat first; they scored 89 runs all out. Leke Oyede bowled 3 wickets for 12 runs in 9 overs, while other players in the team shared the spoils with just two batmen played double figure; Prakash Kewlani and Matthias Devadayah.

In the second innings, a breath taker Femi Solebo out for 15 runs in 25 balls. Afroz Alarm and Rafia Mohammed got 2 wickets to their names. But the highlight of the game went to the winning partnership of Jide Bejide and Captain Endurance Ofem. Bejide scored 26 runs in 23 balls and Ofem had 20 runs in 26 balls.

Devadayah expressed disappointment with the defeat, saying that Lagos Asian’s batmen did not play to instructions.

“Our batmen did not actually deliver what they supposed to do. This gave us problem in the course of the match during the batting. We failed to bat high rate score. It was so sad that our scoring rate was so low. On the other hand our bowling was okay. We used the spinners to bowl out Ibeju six bat men, but they came back to re strategies and defeated us, Devadayah said.
