Dignitaries, including the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme will be at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos Island, Saturday to draw the curtains on the inaugural National Communications Commission (NCC) Tennis League organised by the International Tennis Academy (ITA).

Other important personalities expected at the grand finale of the NCC Tennis Cup are the Communications Minister, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), Mr. Solomon Dalong, President of Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Engr. Sani Ndanusa and a host of others.

The Chief Host, Prof. Umar Danbatta, Vice Chairman of NCC will be leading other top members of the Commission to the finals of the month-long tennis league where winners in various categories will take home a total sum of N11 million, with the overall winning team pocketing N5 million.

Already, Team Kalotari of Port Harcourt rolled over Team Ogun at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club on Thursday to emerge the second runners up. Team Kalotari are now assured of the N2m prize money for third place, while Team Ogun will get N1m.

Team Civil Defence and Team Tombim will concluded their two-legged matches for the race to become the overall winners in the Men’s Singles. The first leg of the final matches was decided Friday.

Also scheduled to be played during the final ceremony are the ladies’ singles and the mixed doubles finals.

Representing Team Civil Defence are former national champion Clifford Enosoregbe, Shehu Lawal, Abdulmumuni Babalola, Nonso Madueke and Christie Agugbom.

Team Tombim has 2014 men’s singles winner of Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship Moses Michael, former national champion Henry Atseye, Christian Paul and Sarah Adegoke as their lead players.

Organiser of the tournament, International Tennis Academy, has promised that the final will witness lots of fun; a great atmosphere, raffle draws, cultural dances and lavish refreshments on both days.
