LASCOPA to commemorate World Consumer Rights Day

The  Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, LASCOPA, will on Tuesday March 15, 2022, join Consumer International and Membership Organizations for Consumer groups worldwide to commemorate 2022 World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) with a stakeholder engagement forum Themed: “Fair Digital Finance”.

This year’s celebration scheduled to take place at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Conference and Exhibition Centre, Plot 10, Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Drive, Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja, will address the impact of new technologies in the financial service industry and the impact on consumers with several Digital technology issues reshaping payments, lending, insurance and wealth management.

The Agency’s General Manager, Afolabi Solebo disclosed that the event would provide insights in knowing one’s rights as consumers, make others aware of the right to demand protection and stay safe from fraudulent activities in the market place.

He said celebrating the day was also an avenue to demand that the rights of all consumers were respected and protected against market abuses and social injustice.

According to the General Manager, seasoned and expert facilitators in the banking and finance sector had been lined up to discuss the theme of the celebration at the event.

Solebo further stated that stakeholders in the banking sector, finance institutions, consumer Movements, top government officials and relevant regulatory agencies are expected to grace the event.
