What seemed like a battle for the soul of Rivers chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC has broken with a faction of the party led by one Chike Enyinda claiming that it has suspended the Emeke Beke led State Working Committee of the party.

The spokesman of the group, Chike Enyinda announced the suspension at a press conference in Port Harcourt.

He accused members of the suspended faction of engaging in anti-party activities and financial misappropriation.

Specifically, he accused the state leader of the party and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi of mobilizing members of the APC in the state to vote for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar in the February 25th elections.

However, the Emeka Beke led State Working Committee of the party in a swift reaction dismissed the alleged suspension.

Darlington Nwauju, the Publicity Secretary of the SWC said in a statement that members of the party had at a meeting on Tuesday passed a vote of confidence on Beke, the State Chairman of the party.
