Envoys flay violence in Kenya

Ambassadors and High Commissioners in Kenya have flayed violence in Kenya.

This is contained in a joint statement issued on Wednesday by the Ambassadors and High Commissioners of various countries to Kenya.

“We are saddened by the loss of life and concerned by high levels of violence. Including the use of live rounds and the destruction of property, during the recent demonstrations.

“We recognise the daily hardship faced by many Kenyans and urge all parties to table their concerns through a meaningful dialogue.

“As well as resolve their differences peacefully to build the nation together, ensuring no further loss of life.

“We stand ready to support the parties in their efforts to find constructive and peaceful solutions,” they said.

The diplomats, who are the envoys of their respective countries to Kenya, included Luke Williams, High Commissioner of Australia; Christopher Thornley, High Commissioner of Canada; and Ole Thonke, Denmark Ambassador.

Also, Pirkka Tapiola, Finland Ambassador; Sebastian Groth, Ambassador of Germany; Ambassador of Ireland, Fionnuala Quinlan; Maarten Brouwer, Ambassador of Netherlands; Geir Arne Schei, Charge d’Affaires of Norway; and Caroline Vicini, Ambassador of Sweden.

Others are Valentin Zellweger, Ambassador of Switzerland; Andrii Pravednyk, Ambassador of Ukraine; Josephine Gauld, Charge d’Affaires of UK; and Meg Whitman, U.S. Ambassador.
