American actor, comedian, and singer, Eric Marlon Bishop, widely known Jamie Foxx, has denied allegations of sexual assault made against him.
According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the actor is facing allegations of sexual assault stemming from an incident that reportedly occurred in 2015 at Catch, a restaurant in New York City.
The plaintiff, identified simply as Jane Doe, claimed in the lawsuit that Foxx groped her breasts and genitals without her consent.
Doe said she and a friend approached Foxx at the restaurant, requesting to take a photo with him. She claimed he said, “Sure, baby anything for you”.
Doe claimed that Foxx groped her breasts and genitals at a restaurant in New York City without her consent. She also alleged that the actor appeared to be intoxicated at the time.
On Thursday, TMZ quoted a spokesperson for Foxx to have said the allegations in the lawsuit are “false and have no merit”.
The spokesperson also said a similar lawsuit was filed in 2020 and was dismissed soon after.
“The alleged incident never happened. In 2020, this individual filed a nearly identical lawsuit in Brooklyn. That case was dismissed shortly thereafter. The claims are no more viable today than they were then,” the spokesperson said.
Foxx’s career spans several decades and includes a variety of roles in film and television.
He first gained widespread recognition for his role in the 1999 film ‘Any Given Sunday’.
In April, the actor was hospitalised due to a medical complication but made a full recovery nearly three months later.
