Ola Oresanya, the Commissioner for Environment, while speaking with newsmen, revealed that the gas leak affected students of Our Lady of Apostle Primary and Secondary schools, OLAS, Ijebu-Ode, on Wednesday.

He also disclosed that the government is taking immediate action to address the recurring incident.

“It was gas pipeline leakage from a company. We are not taking chances. We are going to shut down gas the company. About 60 students were affected,” he stated.

The recent gas leakage occurrence is the third in the past three months with two cases reported in April 2026.
