Police Arrest 3 Robbery Suspects In Katsina
The police in Katsina State, have arrested three suspected armed robbers, for allegedly robbing an articulated vehicle loaded with goods worth millions of naira.
The Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, confirmed the arrest while parading the suspects before newsmen in Katsina on Tuesday.
He said the trio were nabbed last week following a tip-off. He said the suspects attacked one Sa’idu Ibrahim, the driver of the vehicle at a petrol filling station in Maigora Junction in Sabuwa Local Government Area and made away with the vehicle and goods.
Mohammed said the vehicle contained 600 bags of fertilisers, 100 bags of Semovita, 200 cartons of baking powder and 120 cartons of sweets.
According to him, the truck was later intercepted near Kankara town. He said that the suspects claimed to have come from Abuja to commit the crime with their leader, one Alhaji, now at large.
The commissioner also disclosed that the command had arrested seven men who specialise in vandalising PHCN installations. He said that the suspects were arrested in the southern part of the state.
Mohammed said the suspects would be charged to court as the police concluded their investigations.
The police commissioner also appealed to the public to assist the police with useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals.
Early this month, the state police command paraded 15 suspected criminals including a rapist, robbers and shop breakers.
