Many argued that the team has shown no progress under his leadership, with poor performances, lack of fight, and a clear absence of tactical direction.

Former Liverpool defender, Steve Nicol, has called on Manchester United to sack their manager, Ruben Amorim, following the club’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium was one-sided, with Phil Foden and Erling Haaland scoring the goals that condemned the Red Devils to another painful loss.

The result has left supporters furious, piling more pressure on Amorim, who only took charge earlier this year.

Speaking on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel, Nicol said:

“Well, they need to change him [Amorim]. There is no point waiting. He is basically saying, ‘next time we play, this is what you’ll see again because I’m not changing anything’.

“There is nobody in the United team that looks like they will change anything either. It looks more like self-preservation because there is clearly no team there.”

Nicol’s comments echo the growing anger among Manchester United fans. Supporters flooded social media after the final whistle with calls for the Portuguese manager to be dismissed immediately.

Many argued that the team has shown no progress under his leadership, with poor performances, lack of fight, and a clear absence of tactical direction.

Phrases like “Amorim out”, “Enough is enough”, and “United deserves better” trended across various platforms. Some fans even compared the current situation to previous managerial failures, warning the club not to waste more time before making a change.

Others pointed out that Amorim’s system has left players confused and lacking confidence, insisting that a fresh voice is needed in the dressing room to rescue the season.
With United slipping further behind their rivals, the pressure is now mounting on the club’s board to act quickly and decisively.

Nicol and the fans appear united in their belief that keeping Amorim will only worsen the crisis at Old Trafford.
