Athletics: Bada Should Be Immortalised —Obajinmi
Board member of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Gloria Obajinmi, has urged the National Sports Commission, NSC, and Kogi State government to immortalise the former technical director of the federation, Sunday Bada.
Obajinmi said it is necessary for the NSC to ensure that the late Bada’s memory is not erased from the sports circuits due to his immeasurable contribution to the development of athletics in the country.
She advised the NSC to name an athletic event after him to show appreciation for his positive contribution to the game during his life time.
“Bada must be immortalised by the NSC. This is a person that has brought fame and honour to this nation as an athlete and administrator. The NSC should name a track and field event after him, where stakeholders would be celebrating his life after death,†she said.
Obajinmi also called on Kogi State government, where the late technical director of the AFN hailed from, to name the state sports stadium that is still under construction after him, and encourage other athletes to put in their best while serving their father land.
“Kogi State government should name their sports stadium which is under construction after Bada. Teslim Balogun in Lagos is named after the legendary striker by Lagos State government. I think Kogi State government should do the same for Bada,†she said.
