Forest frustrate Arsenal as Gunners miss chance to go nine-point clear

Nottingham Forest held Arsenal to a stubborn 0–0 draw at the City Ground, denying the league leaders the chance to open a nine-point gap at the summit.

Arsenal dominated possession and created the better chances but were repeatedly frustrated by a resolute Forest defence and inspired goalkeeping.

The Gunners were unable to convert pressure into goals despite several set pieces and promising attacks.

Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and others tested the Forest rearguard, but Matz Sels made key saves, including denying a close-range header from Saka. VAR also ruled out a possible penalty claim for Arsenal, adding to their frustration.

The point keeps Arsenal at the top of the Premier League but represents dropped ground in their title push, coming amid a congested fixture list that also includes domestic cup and European commitments.

Recent projections suggested the Gunners could stretch clear at the top, but this stalemate confirms the fine margins of the 2025–26 title race.

Forest, under Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche, earned a valuable point that boosts their stay above the relegation zone and reflects their season of resilient displays.

The draw highlights how difficult it can be to break down well-organised defences in the Premier League and ensures the title hunt remains competitive as the season reaches its critical second half.
