Ms Kemi Adeosun, former Minister of Finance, has built a tower of books, which she calls a life piece of art, in her new Lagos office, NiDacity. Adeosun revealed this on Monday via a video she posted on several media platforms.
According to her, she got the idea to build the tower of books during a recent visit to London. “I saw a book tower that felt like a simple but powerful statement about knowledge and time, so I decided to build one in my new office,” she wrote.
“My tower of knowledge is made up of books that have shaped how I think — biographies, business books, stories of entrepreneurs who built through uncertainty, and books I read much earlier in life.
“It’s a reminder that learning doesn’t stop, especially when the world keeps changing.

Adeosun also said in the video that she started reading at the age of four, so she has had 55 years of reading. She has also been a book collector. Therefore, when she wanted to set up the office, she thought it would be great to create a book tower, inspired by the one she saw in London.
“So I challenged my team, and of course, in Nigeria, everything is can-do. They came together, and this is the result. I’m so proud of this.
“This is my personal office, the first office I’ve had since 2018, when I left the previous one. I hope nobody comes and starts trying to remove the books, because it’s a live piece of art.”
The former Finance Minister referenced The Famous Five novel series by Enid Blyton and D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover as among the books in her collection.
