The individual impact within varied areas becomes an excellent catalyst for the fast development of Africa. Whenever an individual brings about innovation in any particular field, whether health, farming, science and technology, education, and even governance, there are always effects that follow – from better living standards to job creation and institutional strengthening. Innovative leadership means translating innovative ideas into solutions that attract investments, create robustness, and motivate people to strive for more. Multi-dimensional impacts through connecting science with policies and business with good causes contribute to inclusive growth and decrease in inequalities. As more and more Africans embrace entrepreneurial spirit, collaboration, and responsible leadership, all stakeholders benefit. Below are five individuals who are contributing to Africa’s success

1.Thomas Tsotso is one of the key pioneers in sustainable agroforestry practices and community empowerment programs in the East African region. Tsotso comes from a small village perched at the foot of a hill and rose through the ranks of traditional agriculture to become a prominent figure in the region’s agricultural development. The approach adopted by Thomas Tsotso emphasizes the need for sustainable agricultural practices that enhance land conservation and ensure reliable incomes. The leader promotes the concept of inclusive participation in planning processes, where farmers, women, and youth get involved in developing strategies that suit the local environment. The number of cooperatives formed under the guidance of Thomas Tsotso has soared to hundreds of units, with members embracing agroforestry trees known for their carbon capture, biodiversity enhancement, and climate change mitigation potential. His efforts go beyond sustainable agriculture to cover other areas, such as promoting market linkages and enhancing financial access and extension services.

2. Oluremi Odunsi is one of the key players who connect the worlds of finance, governance, and societal contribution across the African continent. Having been born in Ibadan and brought up in the Lagos business environment, Odunsi has established herself as a leader whose strengths include an ability to combine innovative approaches in private sector development and contribution to social initiatives. Throughout her career, she has worked in banking, real estate, FMCG, and technology-driven businesses. At the same time, her educational background comprises a qualification in management and accounting combined with her qualifications as ACCA and fellowship membership in FCCA (UK).

As for her education, Odunsi obtained an MBA degree in Information and Communication Technologies at EDHEC Business School, France, in addition to completing various executive programs at Lagos Business School, MIT Sloan, and Harvard Business School. Concerning governance, Odunsi has had experience as a non-executive director and has participated in discussions on land use in Lagos State during the late 1990s.

In her role as the founder and CEO of Eridan Group, Odunsi spearheads strategies for the growth of finance, real estate, FMCGs, and tech-driven organizations. Odunsi also works in governance and risk management and contributes relevant business knowledge to the advisory boards she participates in. In her contributions to philanthropic endeavors, she acts as the chair of organizations that seek to enhance access to education, healthcare resources, and entrepreneurship opportunities for women and youths through a private sector-led model.

In particular, through her activities, there has been an increase in the involvement of women and youths in agriculture.

Odunsi is known to exercise excellent governance and inclusive growth approaches in her various ventures, including international collaborations in the African financial and governance environment.

3 Nadia Amany is a well-known social entrepreneur who works towards ensuring good health and educational status among women. As part of her career, she has managed to drive considerable improvements within the Sahel and Southern Africa regions. Initially, Amany was working in the education sector where she realized that many women lack information on their health statuses. This prompted her to set up learning centers in communities where health information would be taught along with skill acquisition. Amany has made sure that these programs include locally tailored curriculums, peer-to-peer mentorship, and the use of technology to reach out to many women. Through her initiatives, she has helped in the development of new service delivery approaches such as mobile clinics and health volunteers networks. In addition to healthcare services, Amany has been working on empowering women economically through provision of small loans and training in entrepreneurship. Amany provides consultancy advice on policies that involve data-driven approaches aimed at addressing educational and health disparities between genders.

He founded an innovation hub which focuses on providing training in coding, digital fabrication, and entrepreneurship skills among youths.

Emmanuel ensured girls’ involvement in the training through mentorship. His innovation hub works in collaboration with local schools, universities, and non-profit organizations to ensure that youths can solve problems effectively and get access to opportunities in science, engineering, and technology fields.
