Bruno Fernandes breaks long-standing Premier League assist record

Bruno Fernandes has become the player with the most assists in a single season in the Premier League.

The Manchester United captain achieved the record after helping his team beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3–0 in their final league match of the season.

Fernandes provided the corner kick that led to the opening goal, scored by Patrick Dorgu.

That assist was his 21st of the season, setting a new Premier League record.

He moved ahead of Thierry Henry, who made 20 assists for Arsenal during the 2002/03 season, and Kevin De Bruyne, who matched the total for Manchester City in the 2019/20 season.

Fernandes had already equaled their record in the previous match when he assisted Bryan Mbeumo in Manchester United’s 3–1 win over Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder was also recently named Premier League Player of the Season, adding to his Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.

Fernandes’ record-breaking season highlights his importance to Manchester United, with the midfielder playing a key role in the team’s attacking success throughout the campaign.

His creativity, consistency and leadership helped United finish the season strongly, while his ability to create chances made him one of the standout performers in the league.
