Stallion Sets Pace For Apollo Tyres

World renowned Apollo Tyres has formally launched its product range in Nigeria, appointing tyre division of foremost merchandise, Stallion Group, as substantive custodian of the brand.

The CEO, Apollo Tyres (Pty) South Africa, Dr. Louis Ceneviz, who conferred the honour on the marketers, said at an inaugural banquet titled: “Evening with Apollo Tyres South Africa CEO” at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, that Apollo Tyres is a global brand with an annual turnover of $2.5billion.

Established in India more than 35 years ago, the Apollo brand, according to Dr. Ceneviz, has plants in three continents, Africa, Asia and Europe, with nine technologically advanced plants in various locations – (two in South Africa, two in Zimbabwe, four in India and one in the Netherlands). He described its foray into the Nigerian market “as the beginning of an exciting journey that will enable Apollo Tyres usher ultra high performance products that are suitable for speeds of up to 300km per hour.”

“Apollo Tyres currently produces 400,000 metric tons of tyres across all automotive categories annually with exports to more than 70 markets worldwide. Apollo adheres to stringent international regulations,” Mr. Ceneviz said, adding;  “Our products emphasise safety,a criterion that has given Apollo long standing relationships with Audi, Fiat, GM, Hyundai, Mahindra and Mahindra, Suzuki, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Tata, Volkswagen, Ashok Leyland and Eicher.”

A celebrated tyre company, Apollo Tyres recently celebrated the production of its millionth truck/bus radial tyre with unprecedented tyre mix including ultra and high speed tyres, light truck and SUV tyres with truck-bus coach tyres, industrial applications such as mining and agricultural tyres.

Head of Marketing, Tyre Division, Stallion Group, Mr. Pinaki Sarkar, said in his closing remarks that Stallion is proud to be associated with a leading brand such as Apollo Tyres, which he said would soon become the toast of motorists, haulage concerns and industrial plants. He said: Apollo’s foray into Nigeria would not only enhance the product’s market share but augment its desire to become world 10th biggest tyre manufacturer by 2016.
